After Passenger and Arjunan Sakshi, Renjith Shanker comes up with his latest offering Molly Aunty Rocks. It is a woman-oriented film which has Revathy playing the title role. The film deals with Revathy who is a jolly middle-aged woman whose husband and 2 daughters are in the US. She used to work in a Bank in Kerala and after taking a long leave is back in Kerala.
Revathy likes to get things done her way and doesn't compromise with anything or anyone. Due to this attitude of her's, she gets into a lot of problems one of which brings Pranav (Prithviraj), a young assistant commissioner of Income Tax department into the picture. Prithvi is a confident and arrogant young man. As both Molly and Pranav have similar attitudes sparks fly leading to a twist in the tale which is the best part of the film. In one word, Molly Aunty Rocks is a very pleasant film which touches your heart and makes you smile. Renjith Shanker has learnt from his mistakes in Arjunan Sakshi and the result is a very straight-forward film without any formulaic stuff or larger-than-life heroism.
Revathy steals the show with an effortlessly impeccable performance. Prithviraj shows up only from the pre-interval sequences and doesn't have much to do but he does whatever is required of him with finesse. Mamokkoya gets probably one of his best characters and he rocks during the final 30 minutes with the director even giving him a solo slow-motion walk!! The first half is simple and laced with humour while the 2nd half from the interval takes the serious route towards a heart-touching climax. The direction is pretty good and the script is water-tight. The songs are good and BGMs pleasant.

Genre- Comedy/Drama
Genre Rating- 4/5
Movie Rating - 3.75/5
Verdict- Molly Aunty Rocks is a pleasant movie worth watching. It is targeted mainly at the female audiences and families, they are sure to lap it up. Revathy comes up with a fine performance. Prithviraj might not have had much to do but his August Cinemas can add another feather to the cap after Urumi and Indian Rupee. Go for it!
